Originally hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Melody discovered her love for Pilates when she chased the sun to San Diego. She has taught large group classes as a certified Pilates Instructor for 10 years. Her approach to Pilates is fluid and forgiving, allowing her clients to find movement first, then refine and discover the quality of the movement in their own time. She has seen the magic of Pilates change countless minds and bodies, but somehow it never ceases to amaze her. In Los Angeles, Melody was responsible for opening and operating 3 successful large group contemporary Pilates studios. She has trained celebrities in their homes, written the comprehensive internal Instructor Training for the largest Pilates franchise in the world and acts as a Master Trainer, providing Apparatus Pilates education to hopeful new Pilates teachers. Joshua Tree has always been a special place for Melody; a reprieve from city life. She moved here with her growing family in August of 2017, while 5 months pregnant. She is so grateful that she gets to bring Pilates to the people of Joshua Tree.
NICOLE TARRO - INSTRUCTOR
Nicole Tarro grew up performing, choreographing, and teaching in the highly disciplined dance world, where she holds a BA in Dance Science. She has been a certified and practicing Pilates teacher for over 18 years, working with masters in the field and constantly deepening her knowledge of the work. Nicole's love for movement also led her to complete San Francisco’s highest regarded Yoga teacher training program, with Yoga Tree’s 200hr teacher certification and over 6 years teaching experience. She happily lives here in Yucca Valley with her husband and two children. She is honored to be sharing her love of this work with the good people of the high desert.
ASHLEY RUETENIK - INSTRUCTOR
Ashley is a classical Pilates method instructor with roots in yoga and massage therapy, coming to Joshua Tree by way of Los Angeles and New York City. Ashley found her own personal pilates practice at 18 years old, and she specializes in helping everyone from complete beginners to trained athletes gain more awareness, strength, flexibility, coordination, and control over their mind-body connection.

Ashley’s passion for Pilates began over 10 years ago. From the very first time she stepped onto the mat, she knew it was something different and special. Over time she has had the opportunity to work with various body types, goals, and needs. Her experience ranges from large group classes to private and duet settings. Ashley also pulls from her other expertise in yoga and weight training to provide a session that can fit everyone’s needs.
Tannis kobrinsky - guest INSTRUCTOR
Tannis Kobrinsky began ballet studies at age 4, and has taught some form of dance, fitness and mindful movement since she was 16; almost 50 years! She majored in Theatre at Cal State Northridge and UCLA, and worked both in front of and behind the camera in the Entertainment business. After several knee surgeries doing Pilates helped her heal and she decided to become a Pilates instructor. She studied with BASI Pilates International founder Rael Isacowitz, and completed her certification in 2000. In 2005 she certified in GYROTONIC and GYROKINESIS. Over the last 20 years she’s led international Pilates holidays in Italy, Mexico, Central and South America; produced and starred in her award winning DVD “WELL worked out with Tannis”, and in 2011 she opened her own studio, Pilates & Arts Echo Park. There she teaches and oversees a team of 15 instructors. She bought her Joshua Tree home in 2016, and now splits her time between Echo Park and Joshua Tree. For her Pilates is an ideal mind body movement practice. It’s great for athletes, dancers as well as those needing physical therapy and relief from chronic pain issues. And best of all, you get quick results from your practice and have fun doing it!

This Los Angeles native, burrito-obsessed, sarcastic, fitness junkie-of-a-human, comes to us with 10+ years of experience in the fitness industry.
Her love for fitness began at an early age where she never limited herself to just one particular form of movement. From surfing, to boxing, to dancing - you name it, she's done it! After developing a vast amount of experience in the athletic world, Jess decided to further her knowledge by learning how to teach. She specializes in Pilates, Barre, TRX, and much more! Jess prides herself on teaching with passion, and a purpose. She tackles digging deeper to help her clients and fellow instructors in understanding the “why” to their movements. In more recent years, Jess has developed and held workshops for Pilates and Fitness professionals, as well as Pilates based education and certifications to help those with a passion for movement, further their knowledge.
Whether you are attending one of Jess’ workshops or just around to train with her privately, you can expect the same - to be challenged, educated, motivated, and most importantly, to have a kick ass time!
